The hotel program match can make sense if you don’t have Oneworld status but have upcoming economy flights with any of the alliance airlines, as Sapphire (RJ Gold) grants you essentially business class level ground services, such as business class check-in, extra luggage allowance, lounge access, and priority boarding.
Sapphire status also gives you access to Alaska Airlines and American Airlines lounges when flying domestically in the US (cheaper than buying an annual lounge access pass).

What are the rules around using my Royal Club membership number/status for travel benefits?
Members who present their Royal Club membership number to obtain oneworld tier recognition and associated benefits when travelling on a partner airline acknowledge and agree that the related flight activity will be credited to their Royal Club account. Once credited, such mileage is final and cannot be removed, reversed, transferred, or credited to another frequent flyer program.

(I) Only 1 status match per person will be permitted under this campaign matching to either Royal Club Gold Sparrow or Silver Jay tiers.
(II) The application fees are USD $149 for Gold Sparrow tier and $49 for the Silver Jay tier, unless otherwise stated.
