I would like to confirm your understanding of the matter:
I am a Finnair Gold member. This year I have flown less than normal and only have about 5000 tier points. The season ends on 31.3.2027
If I buy 200,000 Avios now, I will get 20,000 tier points.
However, can I also convert 22,500 tier points with my Avios, which would give me 42,500 tier points + what I earn on flights?
Just keep in mind that Finnair restricts something in the small print in some terms and conditions.

My Experience of Converting Avios to Tier Points:

The short answer is YES. The promotion works exactly.
The reader has 5,000 Tier Points.
The reader gets 20,000 Tier Points if they buy 200,000 Avios at 50% off.
We are then at 25,000 Tier Points, and the reader probably still has flights coming up before March 31, 2027.
The Finnair Gold (Oneworld Sapphire) requires 45,000 Tier Points.
Even if they don’t take a single paid flight between now and March 31, they can convert 60,000 Avios to 20,000 Tier Points and requalify for Gold.
You can easily recover at least 40,000 Avios by using the four travel-class upgrades that come with Gold status.
Oneworld Sapphire is the sweet spot in the Oneworld elite tier structure, as it comes with basically business class on the ground benefits such as business class check-in, extra luggage allowance, priority security (usually), and priority boarding.
Conclusion
This is genuinely a good promotion, as it is a very good price to buy Avios and you also get Tier Points in the process.
And yes, it works exactly as Finnair has communicated and what I have done before.
