Finnair ran two promotions during the pandemic that let members earn 25% of the award points purchased as Tier Points, making it easy to buy Sapphire or Emerald status without flying.
The promotion has returned for the fourth time, but instead of a 25% Tier Points bonus, it now offers 10% Tier Points bonus, plus a 50% discount on purchased Avios through November 16, 2026. You can also convert Finnair Avios at a 3:1 ratio from points to Tier Points with Tier-specific maximums.

Note that Finnair’s Avios purchase limit has been reset during this sale. The offer is available to Finnair Plus members who joined the program before October 30 and have at least 50 Avios in their account.
This is also the lowest price Finnair has sold Avios all year, and significantly less than what Iberia, Qatar Airways, or British Airways sells them for.
Remember that you can freely move Avios between Avios using airline programs without any fees. This is a great way to buy Avios cheaply if you plan to use them via British Airways, Iberia, or Qatar Airways,

If you are a current Platinum member with at least 20,000 Tier Points, you could requalify by buying the maximum allowed under this sale (which comes with 20K Tier Points), then converting 120K Avios to 40K Tier Points.

Conclusion
Finnair has several ways to requalify or qualify for status, and converting Avios to Tier Points can make sense, since Gold (Oneworld Sapphire) comes with 4 upgrade vouchers and Platinum (Oneworld Emerald) with 12 (you can use these for long-haul upgrades at a 3:1 ratio).
This is also the lowest price that Finnair has sold its miles this year, and a good way to buy some if you have need for them (or if you need British Airways, Iberia or Qatar Airways Avios).
I got my Finnair Plus Platinum using one of these sales during the pandemic, then qualified once or twice, but I let it lapse last year and dropped to Gold in 2026 (but I have lifetime Sapphire from AA and Emerald from BA).
