Air France – KLM has a weird way of selling Experience Points (XPs) that determine your status in the program.

Rather than selling them outright for your trips, they greenwash them by “offering” you the option to buy Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and the price of these credits will increase by 50% from December 1, 2026.
You can access Air France here.
Air France – KLM Flying Blue SAF:
You are usually presented with three options for buying SAF for your flights, and the price and amount can be rather significant for long-haul flights.
Flying Blue tried to sneak in the price change on November 2nd, but had to walk it back due to customer rage, pulling this with no notice to members.
The increased price will now take effect on December 1, 2026. You can buy at the current rates until November 30.
Conclusion
I believe Flying Blue and Air France – KLM Group as a whole is a mismanaged mess you can only get by combining French and Dutch corporate cultures with no one in charge.
You should always clearly communicate program changes and give members ample notice. Claiming this was not an integral part of the program and was not previously communicated to members is utter nonsense.
I have never bought and never will buy any of these greenwashing instruments that basically allow these corporations to pocket the money in one way or another.
If you need XPs and live in Europe, take some convoluted SAS business-class flights to the Nordics and have a minication. Route flights between Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo hubs, and you will easily earn 45+ XPs for $300 and actually get to go somewhere.
