London Heathrow Airport is making minor adjustments to what airlines will operate from which terminals in 2028 that will significantly affect some.
These changes will mainly affect Delta, Finnair, and Japan Airlines premium travelers and elite members, as they will all move from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4 (basically the “leftover” terminal).
You can access Heathrow here.
London Heathrow 2028 Terminal Shuffle:
Delta Air Lines: From Terminal 3 to Terminal 4
Finnair: From Terminal 3 to Terminal 4
Japan Airlines: From Terminal 3 to Terminal 4
China Southern: From Terminal 4 to Terminal 5
LATAM: From Terminal 3 to Terminal 2
Delta
This is a truly awful change for Delta premium customers, as they lose access to the Virgin Upper Class Wing and Clubhouse.
There is, however, a SkyTeam lounge at Terminal 4, though it’s likely inferior.
Finnair & Japan Airlines
Terminal 3 has been perfect for lounge hopping, with American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, and Cathay Pacific lounges, plus an Amex Centurion one.
However, there is a silver lining to moving to Terminal 4, as it has a Qatar Airways Premium Lounge, which is open only to Qatar Airways and Oneworld Alliance passengers in business and first class. It is NOT open to elite members traveling in economy.
Conclusion
London Heathrow Airport must have excess capacity at Terminal 4, as three of the airlines are moving there.
I have been to the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge at Terminal 4, and I must have been flying business class on Malaysia Airlines ex-LHR.
It’s understandable that airports must shuffle airlines around, and at least Heathrow gives ample notice of the change.
